We’ve visited the school and local library. We learnt about the rules of the library, how to use a library as well as enjoying reading. We loved all our visits and demonstrated excellent behaviour and understanding of the library.
Green class has had a very enjoyable Spring term. We celebrated World Book day, had a visit from the police during e-safety week and learned all about Italy and the Romans. We made pizzas, searched the internet for maps and information about Italy and ancient Rome, made mosaics and had our very own Roman banquet.
KS2 held a Roman banquet in the hall for our Romans topic. We all dressed up as Romans in toga’s and wore laurel wreathes. Some pupils made helmets and swords to bring to the banquet. We enjoyed tasting a range of Italian foods and wine. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed listening to our Italian opera singer! We played Roman games where we had to compete in chariot racing and hoopla.
In Silver Class, we have been learning about Transport. We have explored different types of transport, including cars and horses. We learned about moving vehicles with pushes and pulls, and about fixing cars in a garage. We made boats using recycled materials and tested them in water to see if they would float.
As part of Gold classes My Self lessons we have been taking part in mindfulness activities, these have encouraged us to move, play, breathe, relax, stretch, feel and believe. We have really enjoyed these sessions.
Gold class went to Magic School during Autumn 2021. We all enjoyed making different potions out of all sorts of things, and also saw how ice turned into water. We made all kinds of scary beasts and different magic treats. We also did some magic maths experiencing counting of all manner of things we could put in our potions, some of us were practicing adding them up.
Pink Class have been learning about Woodlands. We visited different local woodlands; we walked and looked at the different natural resources in the area – naming and exploring them, we enjoyed splashing in puddles and squelching in mud. We also visited the café where we practised asking for what we wanted and eating nicely in the community.
We’ve read three different stories to support our learning of Woodlands this half term, but our favourite was We’re Going on a Bear Hunt! We loved our sensory story and making paper plate bears, but the best activity was using the magic carpet to go through all the different places ourselves.
In Silver Class, we have been learning about Ourselves. We have been learning to name the parts of our body, and point to the features on our face. We have used the Interactive Whiteboard to draw pictures of faces, and made faces out of clay in Creativity.
In PSD we focused on team work and communication, whereby pupils had to build the tallest tower in small groups with different construction: wooden blocks, lego and duplo. They each had an ALD to encourage communication and each pupil had to contribute to their group’s tower. The adult’s modelled things that they could say to each other and how they could say it. They all concentrated well and everyone joined in!
