EYFS AND KS1
We currently have four classes in our Early Years and Key Stage 1 classes provision, consisting of two Early Years Classes (Lemon and Lime) and two Key Stage 1 Classes (Silver and Diamond).
Our Curricular Goals
Our learning is based on our bespoke Hollywater Curricular Goals curriculum, which are based on the statutory Early Learning Goals. Our curriculum is revised annually and is designed to meet the individual needs of the pupils in these classes. Our curriculum is play, sensory and skills based across all four classes, supporting our pupils to engage in lots of different experiences, gain independence and develop a wide range of skills.
What does this look like?
In our classes, we encourage our pupils to be curious about the world around them. You will see a combination of child-led, adult-led and adult-directed teaching and learning. Much of our learning is exploratory and sensory. We use both the indoor and outdoor learning environments throughout the day to explore, experience and learn, as well as many different areas of the school, including the hall for lunch, the soft play room, Sensory Room and Immersive Suite.
Our School Community
All of our classes in Early Years and Key Stage 1 take part in a wide range of whole school events, such as World Book Day, Sports Day, celebrating Christmas, and special Subject Days. We host two ‘Stay and Play’ sessions in every class each half term, which gives families the opportunity to join us in class to share our learning, and see the routines of our day in practice.
Visits and visitors
We have enjoyed lots of new experiences and welcoming visitors to our school - our classes have enjoyed visits to Farnborough 360 soft play, Keydells Nursery Woodland Walk and local parks. We have welcomed visits from Enchanted Bubbles, exploring and making enormous bubbles, Little City, where we could explore lots of different role play opportunities, and the planetarium.
